Ministry & Life Happenings

What has happened with us in the last few weeks of life and ministry?  We are obviously not on the "field" overseas doing "full time" ministry, but like all Christians who want to follow Jesus, we are perpetually involved in "ministry."  Here are a few bullet statements briefly explaining our ministry experiences as of late:
  •  - We are now in the rotation on the worship team at church (Cindy vocals, Jason guitar),
  •  - Jason is begun a leadership training course at church (studying the characterists of an elder found in 1 Timothy & Titus),
  •  - Cindy has been able to hook up with former youth group students from her ministry involvement at Emmanuel before we got married,
  •  - Jason has been able to literally get his hand dirty with other men at work in his second job (Big Toys),
  •  - We have been setting marriage appointments to discuss our "highs and lows" towards each other in order to improve our marriage,
  •  - There are numerous students we continually keep up with via email and Facebook,
  •  - Jason went on a men's retreat with our church (cascadescamp.org),
  •  - Many former students have called us now that we are back in the states,
  •  - Then there is time with our families, where there is always a lot going on,
  •  - Next up, Cindy starts her Baking and Pastry Arts courses at SPSCC.  She will get her certification at the end of the school year!

Please know, that we are EXTREMELY grateful for your support, in prayer, financial, and encouragement.  It is difficult being missionaries, especially when many folks don't recognize us as missionaries.  I guess people don't realize how much we rely on the support of others to make our vocation one of serving a piece of our culture that gets minimal attention.  Please take just a moment to lift us up in prayer.

Thank you.

God's provision for us

moped
So it is just 9 days into September and almost 3 months of being back in the states.  We are feeling more refreshed and yet a little anxious about getting a new routine down.  Cindy starts school on her birthday and I have yet to land an extra job.  Once we get those two things rolling, we'll feel much better...and yet we are trying to rest in God and how He will take care of us.
...speaking of which, here are a few recent ways:
--we got a great deal on a brand new moped today (this will be our "second car" for work).  Not only did we get this moped, but we also got a full tank of gas, free delivery, and a ton of fresh garden vegitables to boot!  God hooked us up with a Christian family through craigslist who went way above and beyond to help us, a brother and sister in the Lord.
--I got to go for free to a men's retreat this last weekend.  Our church (Emmanuel Bible Fellowship) joined with Little Rock for a great time of bonding and refreshment.
--Last weekend, I had the blessing of preaching from Titus 2 at CPBC in Aberdeen.  What a rich blessing to be with that congregation.  Some supporters took me out to lunch and other even gave us cash just because!  Because of that, Cindy and I were able to go out on a couple great dates.  Thank you all!!
--We have received so much from the Lord that we cannot use any more words to express our thankfulness.
For you supporters (prayer, financial, other), THANK YOU!!  Thank you for being used of the Lord to help provide for us.  We are humbled and blessed!

Appendix

so my stomach started hurting again.  it hurt for long enough that we decided to go to the hospital.  well, as you can see by the picture below, my appendix was swollen so they took it out.  my wife was AMAZING!!  she was so helpful and encouraging.  and thank you to those that came to visit me in the hospital, too.  what a blessing.
obviously because of my recent situation, i won't be looking for a job for a couple weeks.  once i'm better, i'll job hunting.  please pray for me in this venture.
also pray for cindy as she is getting ready to start school next month (on her birthday).  she is super excited for her new pursuits!

July 31

5th Anniversary

We really enjoyed celebrating our 5th anniversary at Mt. Rainier recently.  It was beautiful up there.  And relaxing.

It's weird to think that Cindy and I have been married 5 years now.  And we still feel young in our marriage...yet aged.  We have traversed through some hard knocks, but these have made us wiser.  Please continue to pray for our growth.  God has wonderfully used our marriage to shapen us to His awesome will.

We are now off to Cadence for a "reentry retreat" for incoming missionaries.  This is a good idea for those of us who lived overseas for a few years.  After we get back, pray I can find a good paying job.  We do not get enough from our Cadence support level to sustain living in the states.  It is tougher on us living here than out on the field.

Thanks for your prayers and support.
